Social Media Connection

The Obsession

Social media certainly has its place in society there are countless ways you can utilize sites to share activities you are involved in, catch up with long lost friends, and even take advantage of easy ways to connect and meet new friends.
Being able to easily express how you feel without fear of judgment is a big selling feature to social media usage. Happy, sad, angry social media gives all users the chance to send out their vibes from the comfort of their home, I mean not too long ago Facebook added emoji type “like” buttons where you can showcase how you really feel about a post. The underlying question here is are we using social media or are we overusing social media?

An unhealthy obsession with social media can quickly turn you into someone who is actually anti-social. Have we become a group of anti-social socialites? Obsessed with tweeting or updating Facebook statuses?

If we are easily addicted and social media is consuming so much of our time actually interacting with “real people” what are the benefits?

The Benefits

As mentioned social media is a great way to stay connected to friends, family, and companies you enjoy purchasing from. Did you know that there are  500 million Tweets4.5 billion Likes on Facebook, and 95 million photos and videos uploaded to Instagram every day! As a business, this is an awesome way of collecting valuable information about your customers, who are they? What do they like? Most importantly what do they think about your brand? As we mentioned at the beginning of this post its 2017 ready or not. If you aren’t on social media, most of your customers are expecting you to be. Over 67% of consumers go to social media for customer service. We live in a world of now, consumers expect fast, reliable service 24/7 and the companies that deliver this usually win out over those not utilizing. The more you engage with your audience and build your brand the more benefits you’ll see.

The Revenue

When you have a strong presence on social media you open the door for your customers to contact you and connect with you directly and companies who can do this well are more likely to increase brand loyalty and customer retention.
My favorite benefit of social media is increased web traffic!

Look at it this way:

Social media shares + Increased web traffic = higher search ranking.  This is a HUGE win.

Whether you are a seasoned social media expert or just branching into this exciting new world there is no doubt that social media has a ton of benefits, the important part is to figure out how and when to utilize it.
